Benbow Coat of Arms from 1621

This is the coat of arms granted in February 1621 to John Benbow, Clerk for the Crown, who worked in the Tower of London. He is considered to be a member of the Newport Branch of the family, from Newport, Salop (Shropshire), England.

The description of this coat of arms is: "Sable, two strung bows endorsed in pale Or, garnished Gules between two bundles of arrows, in fesse, three in each, Or, barbed and tipped Argent, tied Gules. Crest: A harpy close, Or, face proper, her head wreathed with a chaplet of flowers gu."
