Some of the graves in the cemetery at Apple's Chapel Christian Church date to the 1700s. The church itself doesn't trace its history back quite that far, although worship services were going on before Apple's Chapel was chartered in 1834....

"Many say the church started as early as 1803 as a brush arbor, but we have no written document to prove this," says a church history.... Preaching and scripture readings were in German in the church's earliest years, the history says, reflecting the heritage of the people who settled the area.

The church is in Guilford County, several miles from Gibsonville at 7345 N.C. 61 North. Guilford County records show that land for the church, originally known as Apple's Meeting House, was donated by Daniel Apple.

...Services have been held in the church's current building since 1964, with an addition completed in the early 1980s and a fellowship hall built in 1991.
