    • Mr. John Benbow, senior partner in the firm of John Benbow and Son, builders and contractors, Randwick, died at his residence, Ilfracombe, Dundas-street, Coogee, on Saturday, at the age of 72 years. Mr. Benbow always took an active interest in political and civic matters, and was for several years an alderman of St. Peters, where he resided and carried on his business for 28 years. He was Mayor of St. Peters in 1902-3. He later removed his business to the Eastern Suburbs, where he was an energetic worker in the National interests.

      Mr. Benbow is survived by Mrs. Benbow and one son and two daughters. The son is Mr. Leslie Benbow, and the daughters are Mrs. William Trant (of Bellevue Hill) and Miss Dorothy Benbow. Miss Benbow is one of the Australian members of the Fuller-Gonsalez Grand Opera Company.

      The funeral will take place this afternoon in the Coogee Cemetery, Long Bay-road.
