    • On Friday, April 6, 2007, Charles Tristram Benbow Jr. passed from this life suddenly at his home.
      A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 9, at First Christian Church on W. Market Street. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park.
      Charles was born on April 15, 1931, in Guilford County to the late Charles Tristram Benbow, Sr. and the late Thelma Ritter Benbow. He was a sergeant drill instructor in Riverside, California, at March Air Force Base, and was a member of the 82nd Bomb Squadron for five years. Following the service, Charles helped run the family business, Benbow Reproductions for many years. He was a life long resident of Guilford County and a member of First Christian Church for over 50 years. He was a Boy Scout Master for over 25 years and was a member of the National Ski Patrol for over 40 years. Charles assisted in starting the Guilford County Search and Rescue and was very active with the American Red Cross.
      In addition to his parents, Mr. Benbow was preceded in death by his son, Charles Tristram Benbow III and his only sister, Lydia Benbow Brooks.
      He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Doris Dunton Benbow of the home; sons, Steve Benbow and wife, Dawn of Greensboro and Wesley Benbow and wife, Debbie of Ghent, W. Va.; daughter, Cindy Boehling and husband, Chris of Floyd, Va.; grandchildren, Linda and husband, Ryan, Michael, Brandon and Ginny; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Abigail; and a very special niece Ann Eldreth and husband Carroll of Asheboro.
      The Benbow family will be receiving friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm St. Chapel.
      Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 1900 W. Market St., Greensboro, N.C. 27403 or to the Boy Scouts of America, Old North State Council, 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408.
