Hercules filled out a World War I draft registration card in 1917, stating that he was living at 1732 East 15th (13th?) Street in Los Angeles; he was a natural-born citizen of the US who was born December 26, 1892 in Union Springs, Alabama; he was a self-employed minister; and he was married and had a wife and two children dependent on him. He signed it "Eld: [Elder] Hercules Davis Benbow."
