    • James and his wife were dismissed by New Garden Monthly Meeting, on 28 May 1768, for marrying out of unity. On 25 March 1775, they condemned their marrying out of unity to New Garden Monthly Meeting. On 29 April 1775, they were granted a certificate to Center Monthly Meeting of North Carolina. (Hinshaw, I: 536)

      "Ordered that James Dicks be appointed overseer of the Road from the County line to George Parkses plantation and to keep the same in good repair" - Guilford County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions, November Term 1785. "Ordered that Daniel Worth be apointed overseer of the road in the room of James Dicks from the County line to George Parkes plantation" - February Term 1787 "Joseph Macy proved a deed from John Stone and Catherin Stone his wife to James Dicks for 50 a. of land" - May Term 1788

      He left to his wife (unnamed) the maintenance of the plantation during her widowhood. He left to son William the plantation if he maintains his mother. He left to all his children, naming Peter, William, Famor Hodson, Ruth Hodson, Debor Hodson, and Rachel Marmond, the residue of his estate. Executors were sons Peter and William Dicks. Witnesses were Jonathan Parker, Martha Parker, Stephen Parker, Abigail Parker.
