- Mrs. Annie Viele Died At Home Near Bridgewater Friday
Mrs. Annie B. Viele, 75, the widow of the late Charles G. Viele and a native of Salisbury, died Friday morning at her cottage on Lake James near Bridgewater. Mrs. Viel[e], before her marriage in 1882, was Miss Annie Josephine Bruner, the daughter of the late J. J. Bruner, publisher of the Carolina Watchman in Salisbury.
Her father was affiliated with the Carolina Watchman for a number of years and the family was one of the most prominent and highly respected in Salisbury. Mr. Viele, who was mayor of Taylorsville for a number of years, died some years ago. The family resided in Salisbury before going to Taylorsville, Mr. Viele being engaged in gold mining in this section. He, together with the late T. K. Bruner, also published the Carolina Watchman immediately following the death of J. J. Bruner. Mrs. Viele has numerous relatives now residing in Salisbury and Rowan County.
Mrs. Viele is survived by three children, these being S. M. Viele of Swarthmore, Pa., Mrs. Theodore H. Miller of Taylorsville and Miss Ada Viele of Chapel Hill. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. William R. Wilson of Charleston, S.C. The deceased was buried in the family plot in Fairview [Taylorsville] cemetery in Taylorsville.
