      [in margin] Lawless P's will
      In the name of God, Amen, I Prudence Lawless being of sound mind and disposing memory, do make & ordain this my last will and testament, in manner and form following. First, I desire my just debts and funeral expenses to be paid as soon after my decease as may be practicable. Second; after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, I will and bequeath to my daughter Martha Lawless all my property of every kind and description whatsoever, both real and personal, to be held by her in fee simple upon condition however that she the said Martha Lawless shall reside with me during the remainder of my life as at present, and attend to, provide for and take care of me in my declining years, and in case she should die before I do, or should leave me to provide for myself without her assistance, then my will is that all my property should do sc__ to my heirs according to the laws regulating the same. The real estate bequeathed by this will is that tract of land on which I now reside lying in Bedford County about three miles south of Liberty & containing about one hundred acres and being same tract of land conveyed to me by Frances Leftwich by deed dated November 27th 1839, & by me conveyed to James Cadwallender by deed recorded in Bedford County Court Clerk's Office, which last deed was made in consideration of support of me for life by said Cadwallender & other considerations in said deed named. The condition of said deed having been broken by said Cadwallender & he having left me to care for & support myself as best I could, the same has been forfeited & annulled. In case I should become possessed of any other real estate, however I will and bequeath that in the same manner as this. Witness my hand this the twelfth day of May 1874.       In Bedford County Court September 27th 1880, This the last will and testament of Prudence Lawless deceased, bearing date on the twelfth day of May 1874, was produced in Court proved according to law by the oaths of John A. Lazenby and Robert S. Quarles two of the subscribing witnesses thereto, and ordered to be recorded as the true last will and testament of said Prudence Lawless deceased.
